RULES:

0. The contest will take place on HackerRank. Solutions will be judged on HackerRank's Online Judge. Therefore, every participant is required to possess a HackerRank account.

1. The contest consists of two rounds: Prelims and Finals. The Prelims will take place in two independent shifts, and participants will be allowed to appear for either shifts or both. However, only the best performance of a candidate will be considered for qualification for the finals.

2. Candidates will be ranked by their scores. If multiple candidates have the same score, then the ties will be resolved by the time taken to submit the solution to reach this score. The number of candidates qualifying for the finals will be decided shortly after the contest.

3. Definitive plagiarism, by any means, will result in immediate disqualification of the candidate in question. Plagiarism checks will be run after the contest.

4. Candidates must participate in all the phases of the contest using the same HackerRank account. In case of any any discrepancy, offending candidates will be disqualified.

5. Candidates are not allowed to look up solutions and strategies during the contest. However, it is allowed to look up language reference and documentation, if required.

6. The following languages are available for submission: C, C++, Java, Python, C#, JavaScript.

RULES:

1. The contest will be hosted on Moodle. (Further details will be updated)

2. There will be one round, consisting of 50 Multiple Choice Questions about the C programming language.

3. Candidates will be awarded 1 point for each correct answer. There is no negative marking for wrong answers.

4. The contest will be held for a duration of 30 minutes, after which the attempts will be automatically submitted.

5. Questions will be based on C language specifications, common C compiler behaviours, and programming in C.

6. Looking up questions or referencing compilers, books, and tutorials is strictly forbidden. But, if you do, it's not like we can do anything :)

WINNER SELECTION:

1. There will be three winners.

2. Winners will be decided according to higher scores.

3. In case there are two or more participants with the same scores, ties will be broken based on the least time of submission.

GUIDELINES

TEAM FORMATION PROCESS:

1. Any number of teams or individuals from the CSE Department can participate.

2.No individual can be a part of more than one team.

3.The team size can vary from 1-5 people, from solo to five man team.

PARTICIPATION IN A PROBLEM:

1. Each team can participate in one to all the available challenges.

2. Each team can submit solutions for a maximum of 2 problems.

3. Each team has to provide justification regarding their understanding of the problem statement and give a brief description of the solution that they want to propose for the problem. The justification and brief description should not be more than 500 words. The team needs to upload the concept note and the detailed solution before the cut-off date and have to wait for the results of the first round evaluation.

4. Any software development tools, game engine, IDE, and/or programming language can be used for the event. If a team member uses a purchased tool licensed to him or her and the license is not transferable to other members, the member’s team must choose one available to all developer teams.

EVALUATION CRITERIA:

1. There would be two rounds of evaluation. In each round, the evaluation criteria will include novelty of the idea, complexity, clarity, feasibility, practicability and sustainability, scale of impact, user experience and potential for future work progression.

2. Your solution will be evaluated based on the following parameters:

Usefulness: The solution should have a positive impact.

Usability: The solution should be intuitive and easy to use.

Originality: The solution should provide an innovative or creative approach to an idea and should not be a copy of an already existing app/game.

Risk, Issues and Mitigation plan

SHORTLISTING OF ENTRIES:

First round evaluation: Jury will verify the concept note and detailed solution and evaluate your submission on basis of the parameters mentioned in evaluation criteria. Selection of participants for the final round will be done on the basis of the entries (concept note and detailed solution) submitted.

Second/Final round evaluation: Shortlisted participants from the first round will have to work on the prototype of their product within the mentioned timeline and will present the same to the juries. Selected participants will also get the format communicated through email from our team. Participants may please note that the maximum number of slides should not exceed 10 under any circumstances.

PROBLEM-1

(HEALTH) Currently, hospitals rely on mass marketing campaigns to inform patients of a relevant treatment or drug available to further improve their health. Build applications that can help hospitals, patients, pharmaceutical companies, and health R&D companies with more efficient and effective ways of communication by hospitals for better health outcomes and targeted communication to prime patient groups for a new treatment/drug leveraging the power of data analytics.

PROBLEM-2

(VEHICLE) In order to ensure pedestrian safety and vehicle speed limits in areas with high pedestrian density/residential areas, a system to detect the traffic density/ school areas/ residential areas and accordingly warn the driver about the speed limit for vehicles. The participating teams may use vision based systems which sense the speed limit signs or sign boards for schools/ hospitals/ accident prone areas etc. and may decide upon the safe speed value with which the vehicle needs to operate. The system needs to provide a warning to the driver, if the speed limits are breached. For the purpose of demonstration, the warning may be provided using a LCD or a seven segment simple display and a buzzer.

(STARTUP MENTOR) There are many success stories around startups nowadays.Mentoring and guidance are very critical for early stage startups. Online platforms may help in reaching out to startups at the grass root level including college students. So design a software solution for,

a)Creating startups and mentors that can help startups with market trends, etc.

b)Helping startups to reach mentors in required domains.

c)Helping startups to reach out to colleges for talent based on different criterias.

PROBLEM-4

(SPACE MANAGEMENT) Efficient office space management is an essential requirement for the smooth functioning of any business. As the workforce and scale of a company grows, it becomes harder to manage the available space. This space not only shelters all employees, but is a strategic tool for productivity, collaboration, and growth. The right office environment can equip employees with the required motivation to tackle big, important projects. You are expected to develop apps/software that allows use of available space effectively.

PROBLEM-5

(FinTech) The finance industry has already experienced many changes and disruptions caused by FinTechs. Technologies such as mobile banking, mobile payment, and biometrics have changed how many consumers interact with their banks and financial institutions every day. You are expected to build innovative solutions and products for the hackathon that are applicable to the Fintech Industry.

PROBLEM-6

(BLOCKCHAIN) Blockchain as a technology is likely to disrupt multiple industries and make business operations more transparent, efficient & secure. We are at an exciting phase in the evolution of Blockchain-based solutions, as it provides new infrastructure. Your submission should clearly explain how your solution leverages blockchain principles and why blockchain is the core component of your solution.

PROBLEM-7

(CYBER BULLYING) Cyber bullying involves posting and sharing wrong, private, negative, harmful information about victims. We are looking for the software solution to curb such bullying/harassment in cyberspace. Such a solution is expected to,

a) Work on social media such as twitter, facebook,etc. and on SMS, etc.

b) Should alert the authorities.

c) Facility to report such incidents to authority.

Any additional useful features are welcome.

PROBLEM-8

(CAPTCHA) Visually impaired citizens face a lot of problems with the CAPTCHA authentication process. In some of the applications, OTP is given as an alternative but the feature is absent in most apps. In some of the apps, audio captcha is provided but many citizens find it difficult to decipher. You are expected to design an effective solution for CAPTCHA or develop an alternative that can address the problems faced by the visually impaired citizens.

PROBLEM-9

(FAKE NEWS) Fake news has been a hot topic in the last few years in the form of Troll Farms and these Hoax News attempt to create public unrest like Lynching, Cyber Mobbing, Subvert and influence the public perceptions using social media platforms. You are expected to develop a solution that will detect Fake news like Offensive Text (Comment, Post, Feeds, etc.), Offensive Images (Original or Morphed Pictures) and Offensive Multimedia Videos (Original or Fake Videos) across the Social Media websites using keywords crawling, APIs, Reverse Image and AI/ML/Data Mining techniques and original source of posting and nearer/proximate profiles.

PROBLEM-10

(INNOVATION) Innovation: Designing a new and innovative software or a hardware product can be a challenging process filled with uncertainties. From a business perspective, you need to explore and keep at the forefront of what is happening in the market, search for unique opportunities until you discover a meaningful solution. You are not limited to the above nine problems, you can submit any innovative solution that you think is relevant in today’s society.

RULES:

1. The participant, when their turn comes, will have to switch on their camera and choose a number. The topic under that number will be the designated topic.

2. After receiving the topic, 30 seconds will be provided to the speaker to arrange his/her thoughts and note down points if needed. No external help should be employed.

3. The allotted speaking time is 2 + 1 minutes, exceeding which will result in a deduction of points.

4. After the speaker is done with their speech, a question on the contents of the speech may be addressed to the speaker via the participants, the judges or the organizers.

5. Admissibility of the question is to the judges and organizers discretion.

6. The answer to the question must be immediate, and 1 minute of speaking time will be provided for the same.

7. English will be the only permitted language.

8. A formal attire will be preferable. Not adhering to this may result in deduction of points.

9. Participants will be judged based on speaking ability, appropriate use of language, grammatical correctness, overall speech structure, and general posture and composure.

RULES:

1. The contest is divided into two phases - prelims and finals.

2. The prelims will be conducted over multiple parallel sessions, and participants will be sent a Google Meet link and asked to join one of these sessions at a stipulated time.

3. From each session of the prelims, the top performing participants will qualify for the finals, which will be conducted in a single session.

4. Each session consists of multiple rounds. In each round, participants will individually be asked to spell a given word, over voice. If the participant successfully answers, a point will be awarded to them. On failure, no points will be awarded.

5. It is mandatory for participants to turn on their camera, mic, and screen sharing, whenever requested to do so. Failure to comply may result in disqualification.

6. Cheating in any form is highly discouraged, and carries the penalty of disqualification. The organizers retain the right to disqualify any participant on suspicion of cheating.

RULES:

1. Participants will have to participate in teams of 2 members each

2. The contest will be divided into two phases - prelims and finals

3. For prelims the team would be divided into 3 groups to be placed under each judge.
(Eg :- If 18 teams register, they'll be divided in 3 groups of 6 teams each, to be placed under a respective judge).

4. From the prelims, the top 5 teams will qualify for the finals

5. The finals will consist of 4 rounds.

6. Scores from the prelims will not be carried into the finals.

7. Each team will get 2 questions per round, in the finals.

8. Questions will be asked in clockwise and then anticlockwise order.

9. Participants will be expected to have a working camera and microphone.

10. Participants may be asked to turn them on at any time.

11. Any form of cheating will not be tolerated and organisers retain the right to disqualify any participant on suspicion of cheating

12. Individual details and rules for each round of Finals and Prelims, the marking scheme and all other information would be declared 15 minutes prior to the event on our Facebook page.

Unlike previous editions of this event, this time we will be having a centralized theme for all the wall sub events which again is the same as the theme of shutterbugs. This centralized theme is the 'Circle of Life'. However please note for the purpose of all the events under the wall, this is only a suggested theme, one may or may not choose to be bound by it. Like previous years you can also submit without any restrictions of the theme.Paintings/Sketches Articles.

Theme:

“Circle of Life/Parallel Realities”

Rules:

1.Pictures can be both Portrait and Landscape.

2.Basic edits are allowed (Exposure, Contrast, Saturation, Ambience). Black and White photos are allowed too. You can also use Double Exposure and Splitscreen.

3.You need to send both the original and the edited photos.

4.Watermarks are not allowed.

Details:

The qualifier round will be decided by a public choice likes based round on FB Page and then from the top 20 photos, the winners' will be Judges' decision.

Submission:
